About Northern California Aerial Photography
Up until very recently, obtaining quality high resolution aerial photographs meant using large heavy cameras and equipment. This required using fairly large aircraft and a flight crew of 2 or 3 people. All this drastically changed with the introduction of digital SLR cameras, with sensors up to 22MP.
It is now possible to achieve the same or even higher quality images with the newest small format cameras. By adding computer control to the camera it is now possible for 1 highly skilled pilot to operate the computer and camera using a relatively small single engine airplane which is much cheaper to operate and easier to maneuver. The resulting cost savings are huge and we have been able to pass those saving onto our customers without compromising any image quality. Our newest camera and lens combination allows us to capture close up aerial shots with ground resolution (pixel size) of less than 1 foot or by changing lens and altitudes, capture a wide angle shot that covers an area of more than 2 square miles.
Multiple photo sites in the same general location can greatly reduce cost by sharing the ferry time to the sites among the properties being photographed or video filmed.*
For obliques (side facing) photo missions we take sufficient shots from varying heights and angles to present the customer with a wide selection of images from which to choose. The resulting images are well suited for power point or printing without loss of quality.
Our new Canon 9500MK II printer can print the photos at 300 DPI in sizes ranging from 4x6 to 13x19 or 14x17. The larger ones are $25, the smaller ones are much less.
The image sets can be delivered in JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or PSD format. They will be transfered to DVD and be sent via US mail, Fed EX, or UPS at the clients choosing.
Project can often be scheduled and completed within a week.
We have recent experience working with golf course development, forestry consultants, agriculture, real estate projects, vineyards, city planners, industrial sites, environmental groups, outdoor magazines, legal proceedings and documentation, fish/bird/water quality studies. We are always happy to work with home owners, wanting a beautiful aerial photo of their property for display.
Cities where we have shot include Lake Tahoe, Fresno, Modesto, Monterey, Salinas, Oakland, San Francisco, San Mateo, Palo Alto, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Stockton, Sacrament, Yuba City, Chico, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Novato, and Napa to name just a few.
We will take a large variety of shots to make certain we have captured the property in the best possible light and accentuated its best attributes.
We also have the ability to map a large area like a golf course, farm, ranch or development site. We do this by flying parallel lines properly spaced. A computer controls the shooting as well as the aircraft navigation. The resulting photographs are stitched together with mapping software. The result is a "map type" image that accurately represents the property and although not technically orthorectified it is produced at a fraction of the cost of an ortho photo and has equal or better resolution and accuracy. We have recently used this technique on several golf courses and development sites with excellent results.
We have found that quality aerial photos are a huge help in sales of commercial or private real estate. They give the prospective buyer a better view of the property and the surrounding neighborhood and access routes. Our photos are excellent for adds either via the web or hard copy brochures.
The first thing we need from the client is an accurate description of the property. The best way to do this is to locate the property on Google Earth, outline the property and email it to us. It also helps a lot if you can tell us what the picture is for and what you would like it to accomplish.
We will "tweak" the pictures in photoshop to color enhance or crop it if you like at no additional cost. However many of our clients have that capability in house and would prefer to handle that task themselves.
Photos can be delivered via "the cloud" therefore not tying up your computer email program or by DVD standard post. Overnight is available for a slightly highly cost.
